2012 AWARDS
The deadlines for award application submissions are approaching. If you are submitting an abstract for presentation at the 2012 Annual remember to consider applying for the Young Investigator Award. If you are in the later stages of your training consider applying for the Career Development Award.
Young Investigator Awards
Deadline: October 25, 2011
Travel awards may be given to one or more young investigators who are embarking on promising careers in the clinical neurosciences. These young investigators will be chosen from among the abstract presenters. To qualify for the Young Investigator Award, the applicant must have performed the work described in the abstract while in training. The applicant’s training director must provide a letter confirming that the work was performed during training. We do not request letters of reference. The investigator must also provide a curriculum vitae and a statement of between 250 and 1000 words. The statement should describe the submitter’s role in the research; training background; interest in neuropsychiatry, behavioral and cognitive neurology, or the clinical neurosciences; and plans for his or her career. The curriculum vitae and statement must be submitted by e-mail to: anpa@osu.edu. The Awards Committee will choose recipients based on the quality of the abstract and, more broadly, the candidate’s perceived ability to make a contribution to the field with the encouragement and support provided by the award. Applicants for the Young Investigator Award, like others who submit abstracts, are agreeing to present the work if the abstract is accepted, regardless of whether a Young Investigator Award is granted. Award winners must attend the entire meeting. Award decisions will be made in January and the Award Committee’s decision is final.
Career Development Award Program
Deadline: November 15, 2011
The ANPA Career Development Award Program is intended to recognize advanced trainees in neuropsychiatry, behavioral neurology, or neuropsychology whose accomplishments during training offer promise of a successful career in neuropsychiatry and the clinical neurosciences. Through this program, one awardee will be selected each year. The award will support costs associated with participation in two consecutive Annual Meetings, establish an informal mentoring relationship between the awardee and one ANPA Fellow, and facilitate the awardee’s involvement in ANPA. The Awardee will be recognized at the Annual Meeting of the American Neuropsychiatric Association and in the association’s newsletter.
